Step 1 – the natural healing properties of Aloe vera

Healthy Lifestyle Shift  – Step 1

In this blog I explore some of the purported benefits of using Aloe Vera products and explain Step 1 in my progress of introducing a healthy lifestyle.

I have bought my Aloe vera products from Forever Living which is a network marketing supplier. Forever Living products can only be bought through Forever Living Distributors. There are other suppliers of Aloe vera, but this distributor was introduced to me by recommendation from someone who has been using these products for many years.

Forever Living is the world’s largest grower of aloe vera plants who has been hand-harvesting and producing a wide range of aloe vera based health and nutrition products for over 29 years. Complementing the aloe vera products, FLP also provides a range of bee products ranging from bee pollen, propolis and royal jelly.

Their full product range includes aloe vera gels/drinks, beehive products, personal care, luxury skin care and cosmetics, weight management products and vitamins and minerals. They say that all are unique, natural products, which are not tested on animals, and are free from pesticides, insecticides, artificial flavourings, colourings and GM modification.

Aloe vera’s skin-soothing emollients and healing capabilities have been known since ancient times. It is reputed that Alexander the Great used it to restore the health of his troops, Cleopatra relied on it to help preserve her beauty, and the chinese have been using it as a cleansing tonic for centuries.

There are 30 essential vitamins required to maintain good health that generally cannot be manufactured in the body. It has more recently been discovered that these vitamins can actually prevent disease from developing, making us feel even “better than well” and even slowing down the ageing process. After all, ageing is simply the result of our body’s exposure to free radicals which cause our bodies to decay or “oxidate”. Certain vitamins can actually slow down this oxidation process: those found in the aloe vera plant.

The gel from the aloe vera inner leaf contains:

  • 200 Nutritional Compounds
  • 20 Minerals
  • 18 Amino Acids
  • 12 Vitamins
  • Natural source of Vitamin B12

The plant not only has the ability to provide essential nutrients that the body is unable to produce, but to kill bacteria, viruses, funghi and yeasts, reduce inflammation and give a host of other benefits now recognised as essential to promote longevity.

The Aloe Vera products I am trying as part ot my new healthy lifestyle are as follows:

Ideal for sports people and the more mature who wish to maintain mobility. In addition to all the nutrients of Aloe Vera Gel, the recommended 120mls daily serving contains: 1500mg Glucosamine, 1200mg Chondroitin, 720mg MSM and 250mg of Vitamin C. (1 litre)

So this container will last us both a week if we each take a daily serving . It costs £27.61. It is meant to fight joint pain + stiffness associated with aging, injury + osteoarthritis.

Imagine slicing open an Aloe leaf and consuming the gel directly from the plant. The Vera Gel is as close to the real thing as you can get.  A product of a patented aloe stabilization process, this gel is favored by those looking to maintain a healthy digestive system and a natural energy level.  The first to receive certification by the International Aloe Science Council, this rich cocktail of pulp and liquid authenticates this product just as nature intended. Taken daily, either alone or mixed with pure fruit juice, it is one of the best health drinks available!

I think we will alternative daily between the Forever Freedom drink and this one. It costs £20.22.

Forever Living cite 10 reasons for drinking Aloe vera

1. Body “Building Blocks”
amino acids are our body’s building blocks. Eight of which are essential and cannot be made by the body, are found within the aloe plant. Drinking Aloe Vera Gel on a regular basis allows you to help maintain your health by replenishing your body naturally with these essential amino acids. An analysis of the aloe vera plant shows that it comes closer than any other known plant to the duplication of essential amino acids.

2. Anti-inflammatory Properties
Aloe Vera Gel has 12 natural substances that have been shown to inhibit inflammation without side effects. Aloe may also support proper joint and muscle mobility.

3. Daily Dose of Vitamins
Aloe Vera Gel includes Vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C and E, Folic Acid and Niacin.

4. Daily Dose of Minerals
Some of the minerals found in the Aloe Vera Gel include calcium, sodium, iron, potassium, chromium, magnesium, manganese, copper, and zinc.

5. Collagen and Elastin Repair
Aloe Vera Gel can add a rich supply of building materials to produce and maintain healthy skin. The skin replenishes itself every 21 to 28 days. Using the nutritional building blocks of aloe vera, the skin can utilise these nutrients daily to help combat the effects of ageing.

6. Regulates Weight and Energy Levels
Aloe Vera Gel naturally, and with regular use, allows the body to cleanse the digestive system. Our diets include many unwanted substances which can cause lethargy and exhaustion. Taken regularly, Aloe Vera Gel ensures a greater feeling of well being, allowing energy levels to increase and helping to maintain a healthy body weight.

7. Immune Support and Function
Aloe Vera Gel provides natural support for the immune system. Since the immune system works around the clock protecting the body, aloe vera, with its natural immune enhancers, gives the body a continual arsenal from which to draw.

A strong immune system is your best line of defence!

8. Aids in Healthy Digestion
A healthy digestive tract ensures that nutrients from the foods we eat are absorbed into the blood stream. Aloe Vera Gel has natural, detoxifying abilities. Drinking Aloe Vera Gel regularly may improve bowel regularity and increase protein absorption, while at the same time decrease unfriendly bacteria and yeast – all done naturally. Aloe Vera Gel has also demonstrated its ability to assist in soothing heartburn and other types of digestive upset.

9. Provides Rapid Soothing
Aloe Vera Gel enhances fibroblast function. Fibroblasts are those remarkable little cells responsible for collagen formation. They also assist in the soothing of minor burns, cuts, scrapes and skin irritants.

10. Dental Health and Hygiene
Aloe Vera Juice is extremely healthful for your mouth and gums.

This reads very much like an advert. It made sense once I’d read the post before- but not everyone may find that. So suggest referring to your physical action plan- which sounds good – at start of this piece to put it in context.

Look forward to the results of your trail with interest!

  2. I have revised the introduction to this Blog to clarify that it isnt meant to be a sales pitch for Forever Living. Its inended to describe the first step in introducing a more healthy liffestyle. I will be reporting how the Aloe vera products make us feel, but I am told it takes a month or so to feel the benefits. If I feel better, however, who knows I may become a distributor and seek to sell the products to other people??
